I've got another paper to write so I don't have time to read all the way through this, but there's a brief thing in The Atlantic about black hipsters ("blipsters"), which are also referred to in the article as "white negroes."
I've read that article, "The White Negro" by Norman Mailer. I actually read it for a survey I had with Yannella. I was going to post it on here but you beat me to it! The reason I was posting it was because someone in class made a comment about hipsters but it was more in the context of what it means today. I think people our age/my age.. (college students..) tend to forget that "hipster" is not a term that just popped up recently. It has been some time since I've read the article but I did skim it again. If you google "white negro" you can get a pdf of it. I think it's an interesting read.
